The Center for School Success (CSS) helps students, teachers and parents understand and manage specific breakdowns in learning.

CSS services shift the focus from what individual students can’t do, to what they can do and provide strategies to promote self-advocacy and school success.

Center For School Success Parent Support Group

The Center for School Success (CSS) has established an on-going parent group that meets over the course of 6 months, alternating evening and morning sessions. The next series begins January 11, 2007. The goal of the group is to further understand how parents can best support their child’s unique learning profile. The group is facilitated by Dr. Dee LaCrosse, CSS clinical psychologist/family liaison.

The group meets for 75 minutes on the second Thursday of the month at CSS. Participants are welcome to attend as many sessions as they like; however the cost is set at $150 for the series. There will be both a set topic, as well as time for open discussion during each session. Topics might include:

·  Homework issues

·  Emotional issues of children with learning differences

·  The impact of learning differences on families

·  Advocating for your child and helping them advocate for their learning needs

·  Linking learning strengths and weaknesses to academic performance

·  Continuing the dialog with your child about learning differences
